About us

Established in 2006, the Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning is an interprofessional centre of excellence that uses the latest medical simulation technologiesÌýto enhance the skills of health care professionals. Fully integrated into Â鶹AV's medical and health sciences programs, weÌýprovideÌýthe next generation of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists,Ìýoccupational therapists, speech language pathologists and more with hands-on training in difficult and potentially dangerous procedures without risk to patients.Ìý We also host external industry workshops and conferences.

With 27 full-time staff and world-class facilities occupying 31,000 square feet, weÌýare able to reproduce authentic health care settings to offer a highly immersive, realistic,Ìýand safe environment.Ìý As one of the first and largest medical simulation centers in Canada, we host over 500 workshops a year, welcoming 18,000 learners to our Centre to deepen their procedural, communication and teamwork skills.Ìý

Also based at SCSIL is the Office of Education Technology and E-Learning Collaboration for Health (Ed-TECH) for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The Office of Ed-TECH leverages the power of technology to create engaging and innovative learning experiences that provide foundational knowledge to support learners across the educational continuum.

We are actively seeking opportunities to work with MedTech companies and clinical innovators to help transform their ideas into concrete and viable solutions for the health care market.ÌýOur Centre offers a unique simulated hospital setting in which to understand clinical needs, test innovative ideas and technology, and establish the necessary proof of concept for nascent medical technology.Ìý

The end result is aÌýculture that is committed to education, research and innovation to support the best possible health care outcomes for the communities thatÌýwe serve.
