Receiving a diagnosis of dementia is a difficult reality for both the patient and their care partner, and a lack of knowledge about dementia can have a significant impact on the quality of care and safety.
In this special 60-minute edition of鶹AV Cares, Claire Webster will be joined by Dr. José Morais as she describes her journey as a caregiver to her mother and shares some very important lessons that she learned along the way. She will describe the ripple effect that being a caregiver had on her own health, family and career, and talk about the resilience required to recover from a severe burnout. Claire and Dr. Morais will share “A Prescription of Care” following a diagnosis of dementia.
Claire Websteris a Certified Alzheimer Care Consultant (PAC), Certified Professional Consultant on Aging (CPCA), and conference speaker and educator in the field of caring for an individual with dementia. She is the founder of the 鶹AV Dementia Program and host of鶹AV Cares.
Dr. José Moraisis the Director of the Division of Geriatric Medicine at 鶹AV, the 鶹AV Health Centre and the Jewish General Hospital. He is also co-Director of the Quebec Network for Research on Aging and is the Academic Lead of the Dementia Education Program.
