The Neuro has endorsed the international – aimed at fostering equity and inclusion in neurosciences. By signing this declaration, The Neuro joins a network of more than 190 scientific organizations committed to diversity and equity in the scientific world.
The declaration was spearheaded by the ALBA Network – brain scientists from all over the world committed to promoting fair and diverse scientific communities. It aims to raise awareness of challenges faced by underrepresented groups and provide a concrete set of actions to make organizations more equitable and inclusive. The ALBA declaration focuses on two obstacles: implicit biases and discriminatory workplace culture.
“In signing this important declaration, The Neuro reinforces its commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion both within our institution and collaborating towards that aim globally,” says Dr. Guy Rouleau, Director of The Neuro.
Other scientific organizations from across the globe who have shown their support include: The Federation of European Neuroscience Societies, the International Brain Research Organization, the European Brain Council, the FENS-Kavli Network of Excellence, Black in Neuro, several Max Planck Institutes, and the Carney Institute for Brain Science at Brown University.
