Delivery of Liquid Nitrogen, dry ice and gas cylinders (e.g., CO2) to The Neuro during the research ramp-down period

EACH LAB MUST DESIGNATE A PERSON IN CHARGE OF THE FOLLOWING STEPSÌý

PRAXAIR DRY ICE

  1. The standard order for delivery of dry ice to the 7th floor freezer on Mondays is continuing. Report any issues to Linda Michel (linda.michel [at] mcgill.ca)
  2. The person placing the order fills out the (opens in new window) to notify Facilities, Security and Stores that the delivery person is an authorized vendor for building access.

PRAXAIR LIQUID NITROGEN TANKS

When tank location is in an open area, not behind a locked door.

(If the tank is in a locked room, follow the procedure below for gas cylinder delivery).

  1. Designated person places the order through MMP.
  2. When the PO has been issued, the designated person calls PRAXAIR customer service at 514-336-4050 to complete the order by providing:
    1. the Customer #
    2. PO #
    3. cellphone number and a second phone number in case the primary number cannot be reached.
    4. inform PRAXAIR to contact you to provide you with the day and approximate time of delivery
    5. inform PRAXAIR of the procedure below for accessing The Neuro.
  3. The person placing the order fills out the (opens in new window) to notify Facilities, Security and Stores that the delivery person is an authorized vendor for building access.
  4. The delivery person parks in the shipping/receiving loading dock and goes to the main door of the building at 3801 University St. (see map) to go through the security screening to access the building and arrange exchange of the liquid nitrogen tank. Delivery person should be prepared to present identification.
  5. Security opens the door in the loading dock to allow entry for exchange of the tank and locks the door when the exchange has been completed.
  6. Security accompanies Praxair delivery man while exchanging the tanks and escorts him back to the loading dock exit.

PRAXAIR MEDICAL GAS CYLINDERS (e.g., CO2)

  1. The designated person places the order through MMP.
  2. Completing the order
    When the PO has been issued, the designated person calls PRAXAIR customer service at 514-336-4050 to complete the order and arrange delivery. Provide:
    1. the Customer #
    2. PO #
    3. cellphone number and a second phone number in case the primary number cannot be reached (e.g., because of network overload).
    4. inform PRAXAIR to contact you to with the day and approximate time of delivery and provide the name and phone number of the person designated to meet the delivery person for access to the Neuro.
  3. The person placing the order fills out the (opens in new window) for outside vendors’ access to the building.
  4. The designated lab member waits for the PRAXAIR delivery person at The Neuro shipping/receiving loading dock near the ambulance entrance at the agreed upon time delivery (see map). The Praxair delivery person should call the designated person ahead of or upon arrival.
  5. The designated lab member escorts the delivery person to the Neuro security screening through main entrance on 3801 University.
  6. The delivery person goes through security screening to receive permission to access the building (show identification), then goes inside the building with the lab member and Security to the loading dock.
  7. Security personnel opens the doors and allows delivery of the tank(s).
  8. The designated lab member escorts the delivery person to the location where the tank(s) need to be delivered (and old tanks to be removed).
  9. The delivery person brings empty tank(s) to the truck.
  10. Lab representative calls Security agent at 5542 to lock the ambulance entrance door.

MEGS - Delivery of Liquid Nitrogen to The Neuro during the research ramp-down period

EACH LAB MUST DESIGNATE A PERSON IN CHARGE OF THE FOLLOWING STEPS

  1. The designated lab member(s) contacts the company (eg, MEGS) to place order for liquid nitrogen (LN) and makes arrangements for delivery, including:
    1. the time of delivery
    2. name and contact information of delivery person
    3. the identity and contact information of the lab personnel that is designated to meet the driver and receive the order.
  2. Designated lab member fills out (opens in new window) for outside vendors access to the building. Security and Facilities will have access to the information in order to coordinate with General Stores.
  3. The designated lab member(s) waits for the delivery driver at The Neuro shipping/receiving loading dock near the ambulance entrance at the agreed upon scheduled delivery time (see attached map, PDF).
  4. The designated lab member(s) escorts the driver to The Neuro security desk situated at the main entrance on 3801 University.
  5. Driver goes through screening to receive permission to access The Neuro.
  6. Driver is escorted by lab member(s) to LN tank location. (Map of deliveries, PDF)
  7. Driver brings LN tanks down to ambulance entrance using elevator on south side of the building.
  8. Neuro security personnel meets with the driver at the ambulance entrance to open doors and allow LN tanks to be filled there.
  9. Driver brings filled LN tanks back to their original location escorted by lab member(s), then leaves the building.
  10. The ambulance entrance is locked by security personnel.
