Adam Hart, MDCM, B. Eng., M. Sc.

Medical School: Â鶹AV
B.Eng Honours Electrical Engineering: Â鶹AV
MASc Microelectronics: University of Toronto


Dr. Adam Hart completed his Undergraduate Studies in Honours Electrical Engineering at Â鶹AV followed by research in the field of Microelectronics at the University of Toronto where he obtained a Masters of Applied Science. He then returned to Â鶹AV to complete his Medical Degree and Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery.

Throughout this period, Adam received several awards for his research including the Â鶹AV Med-Star Award, Rocke Robertson Research Award, Joe Miller Orthopedic Surgery Research Award, and was one of three laureates in Quebec who received the Forces Avenir Personality Award. He was nominated by his program to attend the American Orthopaedic Association Future Leaders Conference in 2016, is an active Board Member of the Canadian Orthopedic Resident’s Association, and is currently serving as Chief Resident for his program. To date, he has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and has presented his work at National and International Meetings.

After graduation, Adam will pursue a Fellowship in Hip and Knee Reconstruction at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota followed by a Fellowship in Surgical Innovation at Â鶹AV. He is a proud father of Louis and owes all his success to his supportive wife Genevieve and his family.

Mohammad Mesfer Alzahrani, MBBS.

Medical School: King Faisal University Dammam, Saudi Arabia


Dr. Mohammad Alzahrani completed his Medical School at King Faisal University in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. He then joined the Orthopaedic Surgery Training Program at Â鶹AV.ÌýDuring his residency, Mohammad completed a Masters in Experimental Surgery under the supervision of Dr. Reggie Hamdy. In addition, he managed to publish multiple manuscripts and presented at multiple National and International meetings, with research concentrating on trauma, adult reconstruction and pediatrics. He was awarded the Resident Teacher of the Year Award by the Orthopaedic Department during his fourth year of residency and the ECTS-IBMS New Investigator Award for his research in distraction osteogenesis in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Dr. Alzahrani will be pursuing his fellowship training in London, Ontario at Western University in Adult Reconstructive Surgery. After that he will be moving to Ottawa to pursue another fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma at the University of Ottawa.ÌýOnce he is done, he will be returning to Dammam, Saudi Arabia and will be working as a Faculty Member in Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University.

Mohammad owes all his success to his supportive wife, Manal, and family.

Wafa Al Baluki, MD.

Medical School: Sultan Qaboos University
B.Sc Health Science


Wafa Al Baluki, a graduate of Sultan Qaboos University in Oman. She was honored to be the first Middle Eastern female resident to join the Orthopaedic Program at Â鶹AV. In addition to her passion in Orthopaedics and over the years of training, she developed special interests in the deformity corrections and reconstruction. Accordingly, she decided to pursue a fellowship in a unique combination of sub-specialties. Her first fellowship will be in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery at the Shriners Hospital for Children. She looks forward to continuing exploring Montreal a little more. This will be followed by a fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the University of British Columbia. She is excited to live in what is deemed as one of the most beautiful cities in the world!

Wafa will maintain her practice in both Adult and Pediatric Orthopaedic fields. Upon completion of the training, Dr. Al Baluki is planning to return to Oman. There, she will enjoy the sunny weather all year around and invite her friend Sharon for a visit.

She will be bringing with her all the good memories she had throughout these years of fun training, especially the cheesecake and celebration by operating-room nurses of the Orthopaedic Department at the Jewish General Hospital. Thanks Shirley & Dolores.

Dr. Al Baluki believes that her family is the big secret of her success. In addition, she would like to thank Dr. Ruth Chaytor and Dr. Monika Volesky for being fantastic mentors to her and she will always be grateful for their support and kindness.

Waleed Albishi, MBBS, M. Sc.

Medical School:ÌýKing Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
M.Sc. - Experimental Surgery: Â鶹AV


Dr. Waleed Albishi obtained his Medical School Degree from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He then completed a Master’s Degree in Experimental Surgery at Â鶹AV. During his Residency Training, Dr. Albishi was an outstanding team player and a very hard worker. He was liked by all staff, patients, as well as his fellow residents.

Waleed is known for his love and dedication towards teaching and received the 2017 Resident Teacher Award. He is also known for his contribution in research where he presented at multiple National and International Meetings.

Waleed will pursue a Fellowship in Knee Reconstruction and Sports Surgery at the University of Ottawa followed by a second Fellowship in Upper Limb Surgery at Toronto University.

Abdallah Husseini, MD, M. Sc.

Medical School: American University of Beirut
B.Sc. Biology
M.Sc. Experimental Surgery


Dr. Abdallah Husseini completed his Medical School Education at the American University of Beirut. After completing his degree, he decided to move across the globe to Montreal, Canada. He joined the Experimental Surgery Master’s Program at Â鶹AV where he worked under the supervision of Professor René St-Arnaud at the Shriners Hospital for Children. His research focused on understanding the effects of vitamin D on bone healing and regeneration. His research has earned him several awards and publications in the field. His love for bagels and poutine led him to stay in Montreal and complete the Orthopedic Surgery Program at Â鶹AV.

Next, Dr. Husseini will be moving to Ottawa, Canada. He will undertake a Fellowship in Orthopedic Trauma Surgery at the University of Ottawa under the supervision of Dr. Allan Liew. He will then travel to the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York to complete a Fellowship in Limb Lengthening and Complex Deformity Reconstruction. Dr. Husseini will be missing dearly all his colleagues and friends in Montreal. He is especially proud of his achievements in occasionally beating his friend and classmate Dr. Adam Hart at squash.

Fan (Frank) Jiang, MDCM.

B.Sc Interdepartmental Honors Immunology: Â鶹AV


Dr. Fan Jiang joined the Orthopaedic Residency Program after obtaining his Medical Degree from Â鶹AV. During residency, he was actively involved in research in the field of Paediatric Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery. His involvement in research has brought him publications in orthopaedic journals and presentations at numerous major International and National Congresses around the world.

Upon graduation, Dr. Jiang will be pursuing a Combined Neurosurgical and Orthopaedic Spine Fellowship at the AOSpine North American accredited program at the Toronto Western Hospital followed by a second Spine Fellowship at Oxford University Hospital in the United Kingdom.

Adriana Patricia Martinez Gomez, MD, M. SC.

Medical School: Escuela Colombiana de Medicina


Dr. Adriana Patricia Martinez Gomez, originally from Colombia, obtained her Medical Degree from Universidad El Bosque, Escuela Colombiana de Medicina, Colombia. She completed the last 6 months of Medicine at Harvard University. Dr. Martinez graduated as the Valedictorian from Medical School. She has always had a lot of passion for sports starting with Karate at a younger age followed by gymnastics. Dr. Martinez joined the Â鶹AV Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program and completed a Masters in Experimental Surgery.Ìý She presented her research in multiple International and National Meetings, winning numerous awards and prizes. Dr. Martinez has recently won the 2016 Julie Prize, given for her kindness and respect shown to patients, families and colleagues.

After graduation Dr. Martinez will be moving to Ottawa to pursue a Fellowship in Arthroplasty and Adult Hip Preservation, followed by a Fellowship in Foot and Ankle. Dr. Martinez is known for her hard work, perseverance and dedication. She owes her success to the tremendous support of her parents and family, who have been the pillar of her life.

Ammar Qutub, MBBS.

Medical School: king Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences
B.Sc. Medical Technology


Dr. Ammar Qutub obtained his Medical Technology Bachelor Degree from King Abdul Aziz University in 2004. He then studied Medicine at King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, and Graduated with second honor degree in 2010. To satisfy his ambition, he joined Â鶹AV Orthopedic Residency Program in 2012. During residency, he was elected as the Middle Eastern Orthopedic Residents Representative.

After completing his Orthopedic Residency Training, Dr. Qutub will be joining the Arthroplasty and Hip Preservation Fellowship at the University of Ottawa. Then, he will pursue further training in the combined Trauma and Foot & Ankle Fellowship at Western University. Once he is done with his training, he will return to Saudi Arabia to work as an Academic Staff at King Abdulaziz University.

Dr. Qutub is a proud father of three children and owes all his success to his parents and his exceptionally supportive wife.
