Disease Site Integration Program

The RCN Disease Site Integration Program (DSIP) aims to leverage the different strengths of RCN partner hospitals to support care that is patient-centered, coordinated across inter-professional care providers, and continuous. This includes but is not limited to developing robust trajectories of care, consolidating specialized care, enhancing clinical trial enrollment, and increasing the academic output of the individual cancer disease sites.

The DSIP seeks to improve outcomes from the provider, patient, and hospital perspective. Outcomes that result in better coordinated multidisciplinary care, reduced variability in clinical practice, the delivery of evidence-based medicine, data sharing and data-driven decision making, and above all, improved quality of care.

The DSIP supports projects to be completed in a 36-month timeframe. Funds may be used to hire personnel (e.g., nurse navigators, data managers, etc.) and procure equipment or software (e.g., databases, patient tracking software, etc.). DSIP funding is open to all cancer disease sites except for those already designated by the Programme Québecois de Cancérologie’s Disease-Site Network (Lung, Sarcoma, and Breast). Furthermore, proposals should promote collaboration across the network by involving all RCN-partner hospitals. All oncology health care professionals are eligible to serve as principal applicants or co-leads.
