Mariane Bertagnolli's  PT, PhD, research program focuses on elucidating women’s physiological responses to exercise and cardiac rehabilitation interventions. Her target population is women who have had severe hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, such as pre-eclampsia, and who are at increased risk of developing heart disease in the years following pregnancy. Her lab investigates whether and how cardiac and obstetric rehabilitation programs can improve women’s physical function in the postpartum period and, ultimately, prevent lifelong heart disease. Her team is currently preparing a series of studies to help shape this new field of rehabilitation. The webinar series aims to bring in international experts that will directly contribute to identifying vulnerable women and designing effective protocols to advance the cardio-obstetric rehabilitation field.

SPOTlight on Rehabilitation is an initiative for researchers from the School of Physical and Occupational Therapy at Â鶹AV to periodically highlight an area of their research to colleagues, students, and interested stakeholders using various platforms including webinars, podcasts, educational videos, highlight articles or in-person events.
