La Sapienza

Established in 1303 by Pope Boniface VIII, is one of the first universities established in Europe. Organized into 11 faculties and 63 departments, it has111,000 students, 4000 teachers and 2000 employees, technicians and librarians.It also has 55 libraries and 20 world-renowned museums, further enhancing the overall student experience. Sapienza currently offers over 250 degree programmes and over 200 vocational master courses.

In 2018, La Sapienza’ Classics and Ancient History program was ranked first in the world by the QS World University Rankings. The main Sapienza Campus, the “Città universitaria,” was designed by Architect Marcello Piacentini and inaugurated in 1935.It’s a true city within the city where educational activities are integrated with administrative and reception structures, library services and museums.
