Shaping the Future of Healthcare: Meet the Distinguished Researcher Dr. Carmen Mueller

Dr. Mueller’s research program comprises two main focuses: surgical education and surgical outcomes. Current and previous projects include determining the needs, barriers to and outcomes of peer coaching for continuous skills improvement among surgeons in practice, and evaluating surgical techniques, enhance recovery program implementation, and quality improvement projects in the enhancement of patient outcomes after benign and malignant upper gastrointestinal surgery. Dr. Mueller has supervised numerous trainees including Master’s and PhD students, as well as fellows, residents and medical students. She has published >60 peer reviewed primary research papers, coauthored numerous book chapters and regularly invited to speak as an expert in her field and national and international conferences and is the recipient of the highly competitive Fonds de recherche du Quebec - sante (FRQS) clinician scientist award in 2021.
