A. Clinical Pain Fellowship

Description of Fellowship

This position is open to physicians of multiple disciplines, including Family Medicine, interested in clinical Pain Medicine. The program ensures that fellows will master the fundamental scientific, clinical, and therapeutic knowledge required to treat chronic pain. Fellows function as part of the units' interdisciplinary team, but run their own clinics, developing treatment plans using medical, physical, psychological, and interventional approaches. Fellows are expected to actively participate in all educational and teaching activities at the AEPMU. The program is tailored to the individual fellows' interests, such as exposure to cancer pain management, interventional pain medicine, etc. The overall educational objectives of the program are based on CanMEDS Roles. During their fellowship fellows are continuously evaluated on their performance according to CanMeds objectives.

The fellowship is NOT funded by Â鶹AV. To be eligible, applicants must secure funding from the hospital/university with which they are affiliated.

B. The Alan Edwards Clinical Research Fellowship

Description of Fellowship

Created with the support of The Louise and Alan Edwards Foundation of Montreal, this position is open to physicians of multiple disciplines, wishing to pursue clinical research in the field of Pain Medicine. Research is done at the Alan Edwards Pain Management Unit with emphasis on collaboration with other researchers at the MUHC, Â鶹AV and other research Centres in Québec. Fellows are expected to dedicate 80% of their time to research, and 20% of their time to clinical activity, running their own clinics, developing and implementing a treatment plan using medical, physical, psychological, and interventional approaches under the supervision of a staff physician within the interdisciplinary unit.

The fellowship is a FULLY funded position with the second year contingent upon mutual satisfaction. Acknowledgement of The Louise and Alan Edwards Foundation should be given in all publications related to the fellowship.
