The support for youth from care is available for Â鶹AV students with documented experience in youth protection (students receiving, or who have received, child protection services). This is a new program that aims to address barriers that former youth in care face while attending university. The program further aims to foster engagement and a sense of belonging through mentorship and connections to other services and students across campus and in the community.
The Student Access and Support Advisor in Student Accessibility and Achievement connects students with documented experience in youth protection to resources on and off campus, for support in: housing, funding and financial needs, mental and physical health, career paths, employment opportunities, academic achievement and support, campus engagement, and finding resources on campus.
Befriend a Â鶹AV student, get guidance and support: apply to the Youth in Care Program or explore Inclusive Futures. This is your chance to be paired with a Â鶹AV student-mentor or student-tutor. Find a friendly face, get peer-to-peer guidance and support, enhance your current studies and practical skills, decide what to study next, and get ready for Â鶹AV (or higher education in general).
First degree undergraduate Canadian students in or from foster care can benefit from Â鶹AV's Youth in/from Care Bursary. A minimum guarantee per year of $5,000 OR the cost of Â鶹AV tuition, whichever is higher, for the length of an undergraduate degree, up to 4 years per recipient.
Newly accepted, first-year, first degree undergraduate students* are encouraged to apply to the need-based Entrance Bursary Program.
*Newly accepted, first-year undergraduate direct entrants to professional programs in Medicine and Law (with prior degree) are also eligible to apply

The Branches mentorship and tutoring programs for youth in/from care create opportunities for Â鶹AV students to give back to the community and gain leadership experience while studying at Â鶹AV. Some of these programs offer monetary awards to participants too. Stay tuned for the application launch in August!
