Les fermes du QuĂ©bec gĂ©nèrent chaque annĂ©e 75 millions de tonnes de plumes de poulets! Une partie est rĂ©duite en farine et ajoutĂ©e Ă  la nourriture animale, mais le reste finit souvent dans les poubelles. Marie-JosĂ©e Dumont, professeure au DĂ©partement de gĂ©nie des bioressources Ă  l’UniversitĂ© Â鶹AV, ne pouvait imaginer laisser une telle ressource gratuite et disponible en aussi grande quantitĂ© finir sa vie aux ordures.

The Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue City Council has voted in favor of banning left turns on boulevard des Anciens-Combattants northbound at the intersection of the ramp for Highway 20 West between 16h00 and 18h00. The changes will go into effect on September 17, 2018.

Rest assured that officials from Macdonald and John Abbott College did make a representation to the Town about the potential impact of this decision on the campus community prior to the decision being taken.

Le dimanche 9 septembre , de 10 h à 16 h, c’est un rendez-vous sur plus de 100 fermes partout au Québec et au Parc olympique de Montréal pour la 16e édition des Portes ouvertes sur les fermes du Québec....Présenté par l’UPA depuis 2003, cet événement familial gratuit permet de visiter des fermes qui en plus de leur accueil offrent des dégustations de produits régionaux, démonstrations agricoles, rencontres avec des experts tels que vétérinaires et agronomes et, surtout, un contact privilégié avec les gens de passion qui se cachent derrière nos bons produits d’ici.

It’s one more feather in the cap for Keenoa co-founders, Registered Dietitian and PhD candidate ANNE-JULIE TESSIER, BSc(NutrSc)’16 (right), ANTONY GARANT, and business partner ANGEL ONG, RD, BSc(NutrSc)’09, MSc’11, PhD Candidate in the School of Human Nutrition. Not only was Keenoa a finalist in Â鶹AV’s 2017 Dobson Cup (Innovation Track) Competition, but Anne-Julie won the “Sight and Life Elevator Pitch” competition at the recent American Society of Nutrition conference.

Congratulations to PhD candidate Emmanuella Ellis (BRE-Supervisor Michael Ngadi) and Kajou teammates for capturing the “Audience Prize” at the recent 2018 World Vision Food Security Social Innovation challenge. Kajou is an agri-food venture that seeks to transform the cashew value chain in Côte d'Ivoire. By processing the cashew nut and fruit with local cooperatives, Kajou aims to offer a socially sourced product to key markets while providing sustainable opportunities to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers.

The Hwy 20 overpass/Rue Poultry Cottages will be reduced to one lane traffic during the night of Thursday, Aug 9, from 21:00 to 5:00, for infrastructure inspection.

The southbound lane of the Hwy 20 overpass will be closed, with alternating traffic on the northbound lane.

Le gouvernement du QuĂ©bec poursuit ses efforts en faveur de la conservation du lac Saint-Pierre et annonce le second volet de son plan qui vise Ă  dĂ©finir et Ă  promouvoir une agriculture durable compatible avec l’écosystème du lac Saint-Pierre. Ă€ cette fin, il accorde Ă  l’UniversitĂ© Â鶹AV, Ă  l’UniversitĂ© Laval et Ă  l’UniversitĂ© du QuĂ©bec Ă  Trois-Rivières (UQTR) des subventions d’un montant de 4,66 M$ sur quatre ans.
