Trained as a bassoon player, Francoise Henri (MMusâ98) has made it her mission to fill the lives of vulnerable people with music, and the pandemic isnât slowing her down. Henri is the general and artistic director of the , better known as La SAMS. La SAMS was founded in 2009 with the goal of bringing classical music to hospitals, long-term care facilities and nursing homes across Quebec.

°Őłó±đÌęGraham Sommer Competition is proud to announce that Matthew Ricketts is the grand prize winner of the second edition of the⯠Graham Sommer Competition for Young Composers. The $18,000 first prize for Matthewâs new work for piano trio, âStill There,â was among $54,000 in total prize earnings awarded at the Concert and Prize Gala on Sunday, September 26 at Pollack Hall.ÌęThis national competition for Canadian composers under the age of 35 was founded by Dr.

The ceremony celebrated the inspired resilience of the Quebec music scene during the 2019-2020 season, which included musical projects presented both before and since the pandemic began.
Being recognized "for his lifelong devotion to Canadian music, as an internationally renowned composer, educator and scholar", the Schulich School of Music congratulates Prof. Brian Cherney for this momentous appointment to the Order of Canada.

Among this yearâs new appointments to the Order of Canada was Schulich School of Musicâs Professor alcides lanza. lanza was named as a Member of the Order of Canada for his âdecades-long contributions to the contemporary music scene and for championing Canadian music here and abroadâ. Renowned composer, conductor and pianist specializing in avant-garde repertoire, lanza was a Professor of Composition at Âé¶čAV from 1971 to 2014, as well as the director of the Electronic Music Studio at Âé¶čAV from 1974 to 2003.
Opera Âé¶čAV is proud to present Kurt Weillâs Street Scene. From January 31 to February 2, you can catch Opera Âé¶čAV students, accompanied by Âé¶čAV Symphony Orchestra musicians, at the gorgeous Monument National. Under the direction of Patrick Hansen and lead by conductor Brian DeMaris, our students bring Elmer Riceâs Pulitzer-winning play of the same name to life with true dramatic and musical spectacle.
