Library update on the Heartbleed bug
You may have recently heard of a computer security vulnerability called Heartbleed that is affecting computer networks around the world. We wanted to provide you with an update on how this vulnerability affects the Library’s services.
We have reviewed the Library's servers and insured that the version of the OpenSSL running is secure and not vulnerable to the Heartbleed bug.
Easter weekend Library hours

Osler Library of the History of Medicine temporarily closed for HVAC and roof repairs from April – October 2014
A major renovation of the McIntyre Medical Building’s HVAC infrastructure is underway. This project, funded through the Knowledge Infrastructure Program, involves extensive roof work directly above the Osler Library as well as a replacement of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems throughout the Library and the McIntyre Building.
Scheduled maintenance notification: BioOne and Taylor & Francis unavailable beginning Saturday, March 1 at 11am
Due to essential maintenance, BioOne and the Taylor & Francis online platform will be unavailable March 1, 2014. The maintenance window will start at 11 a.m. and may last up to 16 hours.ÌýÌý
Content and services on bioone.org will be unavailable as well as all Taylor & Francis content including e-journals. Unfortunately, due to license restrictions, the content is not available from any other site.
Colombo Interlibrary Loan database unavailable Thursday, February 13 from 11pm - 3am
The Colombo ILL database will not be available Thursday, February 13 from 11PM until 3AM due scheduled maintenance.
As a result, Â鶹AV users will not be able to submit interlibrary loan requests during this 4 hour time period. Â

ProQuest e-resources, RefWorks unavailable February 15 & 16 from 10pm to 6am
Due to essential maintenance for system enhancements, ProQuest services will not be available to library users on Saturday, February 15Â and Sunday, February 16 from 10pm to 6am. During this time, ProQuest databases and RefWorks will be affected.

eScholarship@Â鶹AV, eTheses unavailable Wednesday, February 5, 5:30am to 6:30am
eScholarship@Â鶹AV, including eTheses and other locally digitized material available via the Catalogue, will be unavailable tomorrow, Wednesday, February 5, 2014 from 5:30am to 6:30am due to regular server maintenance.

Classic Catalogue downtime early Monday morning, January 20
Due to scheduled maintenance, the Classic Catalogue will be unavailable for about an hour early Monday morning, January 20, 2014, beginning at 00:10 (12:10 a.m.). Library holdings information in Â鶹AV WorldCat Local and the auto-loan machines will also be unavailable during this downtime. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Electronic journals at year-end
Electronic journal subscriptions are prone to having access terminated at the end of each year. Please note that the Â鶹AV Library has renewed all of its online subscriptions and it is our hope that our publishers will minimize the disruption of electronic access. Should problems arise in January we will make every effort to reinstate access as quickly as possible. Please report any access problems to collections.library [at] mcgill.ca.

HVAC system renovations at Osler and Life Sciences library branches
A major ventilation renovation project at the McIntyre Medical Building is underway. Mechanical systems, including exhaust and ventilation, will be upgraded in order to bring systems up to modern standards and improve energy efficiency. This project, carried out as part of the government’s Knowledge Infrastructure Program, includes roof work over the Osler Library of the History of Medicine as well as an overhaul of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems on floors 1 through 6.
