Justin Saulnier Wins the 2024-2025 Golden Violin Award Competition
Congratulations to violinist Justin Saulnier for winning the 2024-2025 Golden Violin Award competition! Justin will receive a generous scholarship of $30,000 in addition to a 14-karat gold lapel pin in the miniature form of the Golden Violin.
Professor John Mac Master wins the 2024 VERA Award
John Mac Master, esteemed Canadian tenor and Associate Professor of Voice at the Schulich School of Music, is a 2024 recipient of the Voice Education Research Awareness (VERA) Award. This prestigious award is given annually by The Voice Foundation to honour distinguished individuals for their leadership, commitment to education and mentorship, and modeling of voice use and its advancement.
Alexey Shafirov Wins the 2024–2025 Classical Concerto Competition
The Schulich School of Music is thrilled to congratulate pianist Alexey Shafirov on winning the 2024–2025 Classical Concerto Competition!For over a decade, the competition has showcased outstanding musical talent and given the first prize winner the distinguished opportunity to perform with the Â鶹AV Symphony Orchestra.

A major transformation begins in Pollack Hall
Pollack Hall, situated within the Schulich School of Music of Â鶹AV, is scheduled to close temporarily on May 1, 2024, to undergo extensive refurbishment of its facilities. The forthcoming major renovations aim to enhance the experience for both performers and audiences. As a prominent fixture in Montreal's cultural landscape, this hall pays tribute to the Canadian philanthropist of Ukrainian descent, Maurice Pollack.
Sara Schabas wins the 9th edition of the Wirth Vocal Prize
The Schulich School of Music is proud to announce soprano Sara Schabas as the winner of the 2023–2024 Wirth Vocal Prize!ÌýAlmost a decade after its establishment by Montreal philanthropist Elizabeth Wirth, the prize is awarded annually to a Schulich School of Music voice student who demonstrates exceptional talent, and significant promise for an international career.
