PhD Curriculum & Registration

Course Requirements

In addition to a PhD dissertation, doctoral students must completeÌýa comprehensive exam as well as the two required courses:ÌýPSYT 606 (Mental Illness: Diagnostics and Determinants), and PSYT 605 (History and Philosophy of Psychiatry); and one elective course. The program strongly encourages students select a relevant methods course as their elective. All PhD students must register for the overall graduate program in the fall and winter semesters by selecting REGN RCGR from the Faculty of Graduate Studies menu of courses on Minerva.

Registering outside of the Department

For students wishing to take courses outside of our department, you will need to obtain permission from your supervisor and send the supervisor's approval to the Graduate.psychiatry [at] mcgill.ca (Graduate Program Coordinator) and include the Naguib.Mechawar [at] mcgill.ca (Graduate Program Director) in cc. You will also need to fill out a student records form.

To register for courses at other Quebec Universities, please request permission from your supervisor, inform the Psychiatry Graduate Program office (graduate.psychiatry [at] mcgill.ca) and use theÌýÌýform to apply.

Double program students

Psychiatry residents must register as double program students using the webformÌý/student-records/cc.
