MUCH Photo Policy
Purpose and Scope:
Digital cameras and photography are ubiquitous in our society and amongst the MUHC community – patients, visitors and Staff alike. Taking Photos have become much easier, the volume of Photos taken has exploded and the prevalence of issues surrounding their use has risen as well. Two major risks can easily be identified: 1) a break of the medical record integrity when clinical Photos are stored on mobile devices not accessible to other members of the circle of care and 2) a serious breach of Confidentiality when a mobile device on which identifiable patient Photos are stored is lost, stolen or accessed by an unauthorized person Through this policy, the MUHC wishes to provide directions on what is acceptable and what is not with respect to the collection, use, disclosure and retention of Photos taken by its Staff.Ìý
