Internship Design

The Internships Administrator (internships.edgc [at] mcgill.ca) can help you in the design of your internship opportunity.

The Internship Design Form(,) is the key collaborative document where work terms are designed, and also acts as the job posting accessed by student candidates.

Questions to keep in mind when designing internship opportunities:

  • Who will be appointed the Site Supervisor?
  • What can an intern realistically contribute to our work over 150 hours from January to April or May to August?
  • Will the internship be paid or unpaid? Where can we seek subsidies to provide a salary/honourarium?
  • What minimum skills and experience does the student bring and need for this position?
  • Will the student have other employment or taking courses while doing this internship?
  • How can this internship prepare a student for their future career goals/vision?
  • What internship experience can we provide virtually that is still engaging?
  • What will be the application period and process for this internship? (i.e. 2-week window, requesting CV and conducting interviews)
